This course is the second of a series of three on Creative Visionaries. This an essential full-day course for anyone seeking advice on bringing their print vision to life or wishing to expand their existing business by hearing from industry experts. These experienced publishers will cover everything from design and presentation, how to seek financial investment, business proposals, pricing, printing and distribution.

This practical course will equip attendees with knowledge of what skills are required and what obstacles to avoid, while providing an overview of the synergies that exist between running independent magazines and art book publishing.

Bryony Lloyd
is Sales Manager at Antenne Books. Established in London in 2010, Antenne Books distributes publications on art, photography, design, illustration, theory, writing, fashion and is both an online shop and living archive of the Antenne Books distribution catalogue, which features a wide selection of artist publications, photobooks, magazines, rare and out-of-print publications, monographs and more. Liv Siddall is a writer, editor and content producer who works across print, digital and radio. Formerly the Editor of Rough Trade Magazine and host of Rough Trade Radio, and also Online Editor and Features Editor at It’s Nice That, Siddall is now a freelance writer and a contributing editor of Riposte Magazine. She has written for countless independent publications and digital magazines.

Anna Starling joined frieze in 2000 and has been Publisher of the magazine since 2006. The magazine is one of the leading international titles for contemporary art and has increasingly strong multichannel approach across print and digital. The company has also recently started an internal creative solutions hub, Zapote Productions.

Steven Watson is the director of Stack, the subscription service for independent magazines. He hosts the weekly Stack magazines podcast, in which he speaks to independent magazine makers about the challenges and oppertunities they encounter, and he has taught masterclasses on independent publishing for organisations including the Guardian and The Design Museum.
