Frieze Talks Explores the Written Word

Curators Tom Eccles and Amy Zion take a literary theme for 2018

Frieze Talks New York brings today’s most forward-thinking artists, thinkers and cultural figures to Randall’s Island Park for intimate panels, conversations and addresses.

Curated for 2018 by Tom Eccles (Executive Director, Center for Curatorial Studies, Bard College, New York) and Amy Zion (curator, New York), this year’s program explores the written word.

This builds on a strong tradition of authors, poets and novelists participating in Frieze Talks New York, from Lydia Davis to Ben Lerner to Claudia Rankine, who spoke at Frieze New York 2017 with artist and choreographer Will Rawls.

Part of the fair’s non-profit program, Frieze Talks New York has since its inception hosted speakers including: Paul McCarthy, Douglas Crimp, Lydia Davis, Georges Didi-Huberman, Casey Jane Ellison, Okwui Enwezor, Hal Foster, Thelma Golden, Kenneth Goldsmith, Chrissie Iles, Joan Jonas, Mark Leckey, Dr, Arnold Lehman, Zoe Leonard, Jason Moran, Joshua Oppenheimer, Pussy Riot, David Remnick, Jerry Saltz, Allan Sekula and Robert Storr.
