Organised in conjunction with Spotlight, the panel will explore the historical significance of African Amercian artists from the 1960's and '70's employing a decidedly abstract aesthetic.
Let by Tate's Mark Godfrey, the discussion will centre around collecting trends - both in museums and private collections, as well as the flourishing interest in art from this period.

Participants:
Melvin Edwards (artist)
Pamela Joyner (collector)

Chair: Mark Godfrey (Senior Curator, International Art, Europe and Americas, Tate Modern, London)
